Run Faster ... Jump Higher!
|
 |
Do you know an athlete that
has all the "intangibles" but is just a step too slow? Would more
athletic power help another with their performance? How about the
"Star" that wants to excel into college?
If any athlete wants to run faster, jump higher or just have more
explosive speed and power, the "Fast-Twitch" muscle fibers of the
body must be recruited and trained. If these fibers do not perform,
nothing happens. Well, something happens, the athlete probably gets
beat by someone faster.
Coaches and trainers always search for methods to increase power and
speed. Some have success with one formula or another but none have
any superior advantages. It seems that as long as the athlete is in a
structured program, they do much better than those who are not. |

As college football
players prepare for the annual NFL draft, they will try anything to
get an advantage in front of the scouts. A few years ago, a defensive
end from USC was projected to be a fourth round pick. He found a
rehabilitation clinic that used computerized exercise equipment,
equipment that focused on training the "Fast-Twitch" muscle fibers.
This "isokinetic" equipment had been in athletic training rooms for
over 30 years. Physical Therapists use it as their primary exercise
tool for strengthening knees and shoulders after surgery. At this
clinic, a computer had been configured to these machines that allowed
athletes to do something new, they could strengthen muscles with
variable, high speed motion. Dynamic movement, just like they did in
competition and just the way that "Fast-Twitch" muscles need to be
trained to produce POWER. This was Dynamic, High Speed, Resistance
Training. This was not isolated, slow motion weight training.
This athlete went on to lower his 40 time by almost .2 seconds and
increased his bench press repetitions by 50%. Instead of a fourth
round draft choice, he became the fourth player picked!
This professional athlete is not alone. There are dozens of other
professional athletes that have used this equipment and have
excelled. In fact, everyone who trains in this way sees dramatic
increases in their power and speed. The computer tracks performance
improvement and the results show in competition. It is not uncommon
for teenage athletes to increase their vertical jump by 6-8 inches
and lower their 40 time by two-tenths of a second in just three
weeks. Think about what this means. |

| The "Athletic Training
Circuit" (ATC) at GET FIT! Athletic Training provides the Fast-Twitch
exercise needed to give athletes the power and speed to succeed. This
result cannot be achieved with weights and plyometrics alone. Only
High Speed, Variable Resistance can provide the optimal combination
of resistance and speed through the entire range of movement. Weights
produce inertia and have to be moved slowly. Plyometrics cannot vary
resistance. Velocity Enhanced Resistance Training (VERT) does both,
at optimal levels, for athletic performance enhancement. |
